Obituary

John F. Haines, 78, died June 25, 2014, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center. He was born Feb. 5, 1936, in Hutchinson. His parents were Clarence and Doris (Price) Haines.

John graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1954 and attended Hutchinson Community College. He joined the United States Air Force and served his country for 21 years working as an airplane mechanic then as a supply clerk. After the service he worked 22 years for Roberts Hutch Line. John was on the Reno County Child Care Association Board and delivered Meals on Wheels. He enjoyed fishing and woodworking with his grandchildren. He was also an avid gardener.

On April 6, 1957, he married Betty Davis. She survives. Other survivors include: children, Donna Stiffler of Hutchinson, Laurie Brady of South Hutchinson, David Haines and wife Brandie of Austin, Texas; siblings, Frieda McGill, Doris Clark, Lorana Stay, Walter Carter, Darrel Carter, Fred Haines, Larry Whitley, Wally Wren; grandchildren, Dannielle Kidd and husband Justin, Matthew Brady and wife Stacey, Janie Stiffler, Sarah Boyer and husband Victor, Brandi Brady, Tracy Haines, Amy Haines and fiancé Daniel Hall; and 12 great-grandchildren. John was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Dale Haines; and a sister, Vesta Stewart.

Cremation has taken place. A celebration of life service will be 2 p.m. Sunday, June 29, 2014, at Westside Baptist Church Youth Center, Hutchinson. Military honors will be conducted by McConnell Air Force Base Honor Guard.
