Obituary

John Allen Hearn, 61, of Hutchinson, died November 14, 2009, at the Hospice House in Hutchinson.

He was born August 29, 1948, in Stafford, the son of Harold "Gus" and Vera Mae John Hearn.

He attended Kinsley schools and graduated from Kinsley High School in 1967. He attended community college in Denver, Colorado for two years.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving in the Vietnam Conflict. He was the owner of Hearn Tree Service in Hutchinson and a certified arborist. He was a retired Captain in the Hutchinson Fire Department. He was a former member of the Hutchinson Tree Board, and he and his wife enjoyed boating and spending time at their cabin on Table Rock Lake.

John married Priscilla Kingry on March 18, 1978, in Kinsley. She survives.

Others survivors include: a brother, Chris and his wife Susan, Wichita; sisters, Susan Mathes and husband Duane, and Sarah Hearn, all of Kinsley; nephews, Blaine and Michael Mathes; and mother-in-law Norma Kingry. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a nephew, Stephen Mathes.

Cremation has taken place. Celebration of John's life will be Tuesday, November 17, 2009, at 1 p.m. at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson. Friends may sign the register from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday and from 9 a.m. to service time Tuesday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson. The family will greet friends Monday from 7 to 8 p.m. at Elliott Mortuary.

Inurnment will be at a later date in Hillside Cemetery, Kinsley. Memorials may be sent to the Hutchinson Tree Board, or the American Liver Foundation, both in care of the funeral home.
