John Henson, 56, passed away at home surrounded by loving family and friends on Jan. 5, 2012. He was born Feb. 13, 1955, in Hutchinson, the son of Clifford and Nadine Huffman Henson.
From 1973 to 1995 he worked at the Union Equity Grain Elevator. For the past 15 years he worked as a leadman for Morton Salt. John attended Westside Baptist Church. He was a member of the United Steel Workers Union.
On May 19, 1973, he married Peggy Barkman in Hutchinson. She survives. Other survivors include: a son, Chad Henson and wife Christina of Hutchinson; two granddaughters, Kylie and Kinzlee Henson; two sisters, Roberta Walden and husband Billy, and Melody Chance and husband Scott, all of Hutchinson; sister-in-law, Sheryl Heim and husband Jess; and brother-in-law, Rick Barkman and wife Irene, all of Hutchinson; also many loving nieces and nephews; and faithful companions, Bubba and Lulu. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Judy Mann.
Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2012, at Elliott Mortuary Chapel, with Pastors Tim Adrian and Tim Yates presiding. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday and Monday with family to receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday. Burial will be in Fairlawn Burial Park, Hutchinson. Memorials may be made to the Cancer Council of Reno County or the Hutchinson Animal Shelter, in care of the mortuary.
