Obituary

John Hovious, 83, died July 29, 2014, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center. He was born May 21, 1931, in Hutchinson, to Joseph C. and Dorothy M. (Fisher) Hovious.

John graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1949. He was a farmer and taper. He was a member of Lions Club in Eureka, Nev., Bay Area Painters and Tapers Association, and IUPAT Industry. On Dec. 29, 1973, he married Judith Ann Vanarsdall in Robles del Rio-Carmel Valley, Calif.

John is survived by his wife, Judy Hovious of the home; daughter, Terry Turnbow and husband Larry of Silver Lake, Ore.; sister, Joan Tedford of Hutchinson; brother, Dale Hovious of Hutchinson; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter, Gwen Malee Woehlert.

Cremation has taken place. Private family services will be held at a later date. John wanted to give a special thank you to his speech teacher who worked with him at his school when he was a child. Memorials may be made to Operation Smile, in care of Elliott Mortuary and Crematory, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
