John R. Moore, 81, of Hutchinson, died December 10, 2017, at Pleasant View Home, Inman. He was born March 13, 1936, in Hutchinson, to Richard H. and Annie E. (Merryfield) Moore. John graduated from Haven High School in 1954 and Hutchinson Community College. He was a millworker and over the road truck driver for Republic Paperboard for 40 years. He was a member of First Mennonite Church and church trustee. John was an avid Chiefs fan, enjoyed snow skiing, fishing, and volunteered for the M-2 Program HCF. He never knew a stranger. John's greatest joy and passion were his grandchildren.

On December 29, 1957, he married M. Marguerite Enns at First Mennonite Church, Hutchinson. She died January 11, 2016.

John is survived by: children, Julie Esau and husband Todd of Hutchinson, John H. Moore and wife Denise of Wichita, Jeff Moore and wife Angela of Augusta; beloved grandchildren, Natasha Esau, Jordan Esau (Ashley), Michaela Esau, Quentin Moore (Carson), Kelsey Epp (Viktor), Jacob Moore, Joshua Moore, Jaykub Popejoy, Annie Moore; sister, Ruth Edgington; and sister-in-law, Myrna Moore.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, David H. Moore.

Cremation has taken place.

Memorial service will be 11 a.m. Friday, December 15, 2017, at First Mennonite Church, 52 Rambler Road, with Pastors Tonya Ramer Wenger and Nathan Koontz officiating. Burial will be 2 p.m. Friday, December 15, 2017, at Mount Hope Cemetery. Friends may sign the book from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday at Elliott Mortuary, with family to receive friends Thursday from 5-7 p.m. at First Mennonite Church.

John's family would like to express their gratitude to Dr. Estephan and the oncology staff at the Hutchinson Clinic, Reno County Hospice, and Pleasant View Home for their loving care of dad and the kindness shown to our family during his battle with pancreatic cancer.
