John Warren Rue, 79, died Aug. 20, 2015, at his home in Hutchinson. He was born Jan. 20, 1936, in Burrton, to John Richard and Dorothy Luella (Anderson) Rue.
He was a foreman for the Reno County Highway Department for 23 years, retiring in 1999. John was an avid recreational pilot, a member of the NRA, and the Central Kansas Gun Club.
He married Jackie Castka on May 15, 1957, in Plainville. She died on Aug. 11, 1980.
Survivors include: sons, Jeff Rue, Hutchinson, and John "Scott" Rue and wife Natasha Gandhi-Rue, Wichita; daughter, Lynn Bryson and husband Michael, McPherson; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and a brother, Robert Rue and wife Sue, Hutchinson.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and brothers, Bill and Kenneth Rue.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 25, 2015, at Elliott Chapel, Hutchinson, with Jimmie Keas presiding. Burial will be in Fairlawn Burial Park, Hutchinson. Friends may sign the book from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson.
