John M. Schletzbaum, 72, died June 19, 2026, at his home in Silverdale, WA. He was born September 6, 1953, in Hutchinson, to Earl L. and Mae B. Schletzbaum.

On May 3, 1975, John married Ruth Adell Clements, in Hutchinson.

John graduated from Hutchinson High school and spent most of his career working for the Kansas Department of Corrections. He had a passion for photography that earned him several awards at the Kansas State Fair. After retirement, John moved to Washington State where he and his wife spent time travelling all over the Pacific Northwest.

John is survived by: his loving wife of 51 years, Ruth Schletzbaum of the home; children, Susan Schletzbaum of Silverdale, WA, John Schletzbaum (Hannah) of Hutchinson, and Rebecca Caldwell (Jesse) of Newry, PA; grandchildren Zoey Schletzbaum, Emersyn Schletzbaum, Lauren Caldwell, Taylor Caldwell, and Myles Caldwell; and sister, Caroline Schmucker (Ray) of Plevna.

John was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Janet Farney and Gladys Yoder; brothers-in-law, Carl Farney and Harold Yoder; niece, Sharon Ford; and nephew, Jim Yoder.

Graveside service will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, July 3, 2026, at North Inman Cemetery, Inman.
