John T. Southards, 74, died Nov. 20, 2007, at Pleasant View Nursing Home, Inman.
He was born June 20, 1933, in Trousdale, the son of Clarence Richard and Goldie Elizabeth Gilbert Southards. A longtime resident of Hutchinson, he was a retired machinist for Eaton Corporation.
He belonged to the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He served in the U.S. Air Force.
Survivors include: a son, Fred, and his wife Laura, Hutchinson; five daughters, Mary Poe and husband, Dale, Wamego, Kally Saults and husband, Robert, Wichita, Cheryl Schoch and husband, Kenton, Evanston, Wyo., and Debra Coker and husband, Frank, and Michelle Snell and husband, Troy, all of Hutchinson; a half-brother, Robert Bunten, Denver; 19 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and a great-grandchild.
Funeral will be at 2 pm. Friday at Elliott Chapel, Hutchinson, with the Rev. Nick Rempel presiding. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Fairlawn Burial Park, with military graveside rites conducted by the McConnell Air Force Base Honor Guard.
