John T. Swanson, 85, died Dec. 14, 2010, at Hospice House, Hutchinson. He was born May 13, 1925, in Hutchinson, the son of Eskel Herbert and Hannah Anderson Swanson. A lifetime Hutchinson area resident, he graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1943. He was a very well respected farmer and stockman.

He belonged to Emanuel Lutheran Church, Hutchinson.

Survivors include: brother, Harold and wife Donna, Hutchinson; companion, Marjorie Keller, Hutchinson; niece, Kim Brack and husband Les, Topeka; nephews, Hal Swanson and partner Dan Ollis, Los Angeles, and Guy Swanson and wife Mary, Leawood; seven great-nieces and nephews, Matt and Val, Jillian and Brian, Paige, McKenzie and Conner; and a great-great-niece, Addi. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Donald.

Graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 18, 2010, in Eastside Cemetery, with Pastor Phil Vickers presiding. The casket will remain closed. Friends may sign the book from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday and Friday and from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson.
