Obituary

John W. Warner, 81, died Dec. 10, 2016, at Diversicare of Hutchinson. He was born July 28, 1935, in Hutchinson, to Ralph and Bessie (Stewart) Warner.

John graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1953 and from Hutchinson Junior College in 1955. John was a 44-year employee with Dillons, retiring in 2004. During his tenure with Dillons, John worked in the meat department and was manager of the Big Dipper. John served six years in the Kansas Army National Guard, and was a member of Prairie Pups Motorcycle Club, a lifetime member of the American Motorcycle Association, and Faith United Methodist Church.

On July 21, 1956, he married Cherry Ann Alexander in Hutchinson. They recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. She survives. Other survivors include: daughters, Stephanie Hill of Augusta, Sandra Steude and husband Carl of Meridian, Idaho; son, Steve Warner and wife Letha of Hutchinson; sister, Shirley Landureth and husband Bill of Albuquerque, New Mexico; grandchildren, Brandon Warner and wife Julie, Blake Warner and fiancee Brittany Hines, Brielle Warner, Tyson Miles, Lakisha Miles, Kent Miles Jr., Janae Steude, and Derek Steude; and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and in-laws, Kenneth and Alwyn Alexander.

Funeral will be 10 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 15, 2016, at Elliott Chapel, Hutchinson, with the Reverend Alan Gager officiating. Burial will follow in the Burrton City Cemetery. Friends may call from 1 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Elliott Mortuary.
