Johnie Montgomery, 83, died July 26, 2012, at Good Samaritan Village, Hutchinson. He was born July 12, 1929, in Oskaloosa, Illinois, to Austin A. and Grace Logan Montgomery. Johnie was an electrician for Carey Salt for 43 years and a member of United Steel Workers. He was also a member of St. Teresa's Catholic Church. On September 16, 1950, he married Rosalie A. Corwin in Hutchinson. She died March 10, 2006.
He is survived by: daughter, Karla Rumback and husband Don of Hutchinson; grandchildren, Charles Rumback and wife of Chicago, Illinois, Mike Rumback of Hutchinson, and Ben Rumback and wife of Chicago, Illinois; brother, Herman "Bud" Montgomery of Hutchinson; and several nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Marc A. Montgomery; and brother, Myrle Montgomery.
Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Monday, July 30, 2012, at Elliott Mortuary Chapel, with Chaplain David Rumback officiating. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday, with family to receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. at Elliott Mortuary. Burial will be in Penwell Gabel Cemetery and Mausoleum, with Father Nicholas Voelker officiating. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Reno County, Good Samaritan Village, or the Richard Stuchlik Education Fund, all in care of the mortuary.
