Obituary

Joleen K. Leslie, 72, died April 17, 2015, in Hutchinson. She was born August 20, 1942, in Independence, Mo., to Ben and Leona Miller. She had a happy childhood growing up in Oberlin, Kan., with her parents and older brother, Dan Miller.

After graduation from Oberlin High School, she attended the University of Kansas, graduating in 1964, with a degree in education. While at KU, she met the love of her life and future husband, Ron Leslie. They were married at Danforth Chapel on the university campus, Sept. 12, 1964. Joleen taught at Linwood, Kan., while Ron finished up his law degree.

After two years in Maryland, while Ron was in the United States Army, they settled in Hutchinson. Joleen taught for several years before becoming a travel agent.

She is survived by: her husband, Ron; son, Brian Leslie, Manhattan; and brother, Dan Miller and wife Pat, Dallas.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a son, Kent Leslie.

Joleen was a caring woman who was a great wife and mother. She lived her life helping others in ways large and small and will be remembered for her kindness. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and served her church as the Treasurer of the District Board of Trustees.

Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 22, 2015, at Elliott Chapel, Hutchinson, with the Reverend Jim Rhaesa presiding. Burial will be in Penwell Gabel Cemetery and Mausoleum, Hutchinson. Friends may sign the book from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday with the family to greet friends from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson. Memorials may be made to the Reno County United Way or to the Hutchinson Public Library, both in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 North Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
