Jonah 'Joe' L. Birdwell, 79, passed away May 26, 2023, at Diversicare of Hutchinson, KS.  He was born February 18, 1944, in Wichita, KS, to J.F. Birdwell and Vivian Irene (Morton) Birdwell.

Joe was employed as a railroad car inspector.  He was a member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, Hutchinson, KS.

On August 5, 1966, Joe married Pamela G. Hildebrand.  They shared over 56 years of marriage.

He is survived by:  his wife, Pamela Birdwell of Hutchinson, KS; children, Chris Birdwell and Ami (Scott) Dick, both of Hutchinson, KS; step-grandchildren, Tonia (Josh) Metz and Joshua (Sarah) Bair; brother, Terry Wells of Mesquite, TX; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Joe was preceded in death by:  his parents; sister, Frieda Wiley; and brother, John Birdwell.

Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, February 15, 2025, at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, 407 E 12th Ave, Hutchinson.
