Obituary

Joni Joy Jackson Heim, 43, died Oct. 7, 2005, at Via Christi Regional Medical Center, St. Francis Campus, Hynes Hospice Center, Wichita, after a hard fought battle with leukemia (AML).

She was born June 21, 1962, in Hutchinson, the daughter of Howard B. and Rosella Friesen Jackson. She graduated from Central Christian High School of Hutchinson in 1980, she received her Education Degree from Washburn University, with a master's in Special Education from Kansas State University, and was working on her second master's at Wichita State University. She was a special education teacher, teaching in Salina, Junction City, Abilene, Newton and at the Gammon Elementary School, Wichita.

She served on the Salina Board of Education.

Survivors include: a daughter, Erin, Andover; her parents, Bill and Rosella Jackson, Hutchinson; a brother, Michael and his wife Robin Jackson, Hutchinson; two sisters, Janice Green and her husband, Jerry, Hutchinson, and Sherry Heim, Emporia; her boyfriend, John Marteney, Wichita; and eight nephews and nieces.

Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the First Church of the Nazarene, 4290 North Monroe, Hutchinson, with the Rev. R. Kendall Franklin presiding. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Sunday and from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson, with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday. Burial will be in Fairlawn Cemetery.

Memorials may be sent to the Fred Hutchinson School, Seattle, Wash., which is a school for cancer patients and their children, in care of the funeral home.
