Jose "Pete" Padilla, 84, died June 12, 2016, at Hospice House, Hutchinson. He was born May 12, 1932, in El Durazno, Aguas-calientes, Mexico, to Pedro and Benita (Castorena) Padilla. He was a parish member of St. Teresa's Catholic Church and retired from Hutchinson Community College, Tyson Foods and International Homes.
In Dec. of 1962, Jose married Guadalupe "Lupe" Lara Palacio in Cosio, Aguascalientes, Mexico. She survives. Other survivors include: son, Marcial Rivera and wife Tammy of Hutchinson; grandchildren, Vicente Rivera of Dallas, Texas, Victoria Rivera of Hutchinson; sisters, Maria Padilla, Alicia Padilla, both of Aguascalientes, AGS. He was preceded in death by: his parents and sisters, Carmen and Juanita Padilla.
Parish rosary will be 10 a.m. Thursday, June 16, 2016, with a 10:30 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial to follow at St. Teresa's Catholic Church, Hutchinson, with Father Michael Maybrier presiding. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Hutchinson. Friends may call from 5 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Teresa's Catholic Church, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
