Obituary

Joseph M. Miller, 61, died Aug. 11, 2008, at Hutchinson Hospital.

He was born Sept. 20, 1946, in Kalona, Iowa, the son of Mahlon E. and Edna Miller Miller. He was the owner of Carriage Crossing and the past owner of the Dutch Kitchen. He belonged to South Hutchinson Mennonite Church.

On Dec. 30, 1965, he married Mary Ellen Nisly at Plainview Mennonite Church. She survives.

Other survivors include: three sons and their spouses, Arthur L. and Yvonne, Leawood, Michael D. and Dawnita, and Steven P. and Stephanie, all of Hutchinson; his mother, Edna Miller, Kalona, Iowa; seven brothers, Daniel, California, Mo., Benjamin, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Ezra, and Paul, both of Hutchinson, Mark, and Elmer, both of Kalona, Iowa, and Verton, Sterling; three sisters, Mary Radtke, Rogers, Ark., Barb Slabaugh, and Nora Kemp, both of Kalona, Iowa; and nine grandchildren, Brooke, Payton, Logan, Amanda, Elisabeth, Ellie, Maxwell, Wilson, and Reginald.

He was preceded in death by his father, a brother, Lowell, and an infant granddaughter, Christiana.

Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 14, 2008, at the Activity Center of South Hutchinson Mennonite Church, South Campus, Yoder, with Pastors Howard Wagler, and Eric Miller presiding. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Wednesday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson. The family will greet friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at South Hutchinson Mennonite Church, 808 South Poplar, South Hutchinson. Private family burial will be held prior to the funeral service in Yoder Mennonite Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Hopi Mission School, in care of South Hutchinson Mennonite Church.
