Obituary

Joseph W. "Joe" Wright, 74, died Jan. 4, 2007, at Wesley Towers Thorne Care Center.

He was born Jan. 6, 1932, in Arab, Ala., the son of Joe Wheeler and Ida Belle Cox Wright. He graduated in 1949, from Arab High School, Arab, Ala. A resident of Hutchinson since 1968, he was retired from the State of Kansas Department of Human Resources Hutchinson Job Service, was in sales at Parrott-Hodnett, and was a store supervisor for Kwik Shop.

He belonged to Countryside Baptist Church, and the American Legion Lysle Rishel Post No. 68. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict.

On Sept. 16, 1955, he married Sherry Leta in Cheyenne, Wyo. She survives.

Other survivors include: sons, Richard A. and wife, Shelly, and their children, Leah and Brock Wright, all of Carrollton, Texas, and Kenneth M. and wife, Kimberly, and their sons, Austin and Michael, all of Colorado Springs, Colo.

Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Countryside Baptist Church, with Pastor Dusty Cowell presiding. Visitation will be from 1 to 9 p.m. Saturday and from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson, with the family present from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday. Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in Sherley Cemetery, rural Sulphur Springs, Texas, with Pastor Fred Lewis presiding, with military rites conducted by the McConnell Air Force Base Honor Guard.
