Joyce Arlene Bliss, 90, died May 28, 2026, at her home in Hutchinson. She was born March 29, 1936, in Hutchinson, to Harvey Elmer and Jette Marie (Buss) Meier.

On March 7, 1955, Joyce married Richard P. Bliss, Sr, in Hutchinson. They shared over 54 years of marriage. Prior to his death on February 9, 2010.

Joyce loved being a mother and was very involved with her five children’s activities. She loved all animals; especially birds. Joyce was an avid listener to “Perky’s Party Line” on KWBW radio. She enjoyed collecting cookbooks and recipes; and was a wonderful cook.

Joyce is survived by: her children, Robert “Bobby” Bliss, Marlene Vigil, Richard Bliss, Jr., all of Hutchinson; Douglas (Susan) Bliss of Winfield; and Ronald Bliss of Hutchinson; grandchildren, Kaci Warkentin and Kyle Bliss; and six great-grandchildren with one on the way.

She was preceded in death by: her parents; husband; and siblings, Elmer Meier, Violet Strong, and Harley Meier.

Private family graveside service has been held at Memorial Park Cemetery, Hutchinson.
