Joyce E. "Jody" Snell, 78, died March 9, 2014, at Hospice House, Hutchinson. She was born September 30, 1935, to Raymond and Mildred Strong Stroup, in Agra, Kansas.

She graduated from Agra High School and then from Salt City Business College.

She married Carroll M. Snell on September 11, 1954, in Hutchinson, KS. He survives.

Family was very important and always came first to Jody. She worked in the insurance department at the Hutchinson Clinic for 13 years and at Hutchinson Hospital for 17 years. She was an active member of Eastwood Church of Christ where she taught Bible classes and Children's Sunday school classes for many years touching many lives along the way.

Survivors include: her husband Carroll, Hutchinson; daughters, Mary Nowlan and husband Michael, Theresa Walker and husband Richard, Fredonia, and Lori Reed and husband Jerry, Hutchinson; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; a brother; four sisters; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, a son, Mark Snell, two brothers, and two sisters.

Funeral will be 10 a.m. Thursday, March 13, 2014, at Elliott Chapel, Hutchinson, with Jimie-Wray Mead presiding. Visitation will be from 1 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson. Burial will be in Fairlawn Burial Park.
