Joyce R. Hobart, 83, died Jan. 21, 2013, at Hospice House, Hutchinson. She was born June 20, 1929, in Kansas City, Mo., the daughter of William Lawrence Rock and Harriet McGregor Rock.

Joyce was a graduate of the University of Kansas and a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority while at KU.

She married Harold Nelson Hobart Jr. on Aug. 23, 1952, in Kansas City, Mo. Nelson died March 16, 2011. She is survived by her children, Harriet and Kevin Matthews of Grand Junction, Colo., John and Judy Hobart of Fort Worth, Texas, Carolyn and Tom Elliott of Hutchinson, Barbara Hobart of Houston, Texas, and Ted and Wendy Hobart of Hutchinson; 12 grandchildren, Jorde and Morgan Matthews, John Jr. and Jake Hobart, Brooke Morgan and her husband Ryan, Paige and Claire Elliott, Lauren and Sarah Vanier, Hattie, Lily and Brynne Hobart. Joyce was preceded in death by her husband; mother; father; stepfather, Harold Nelson Hobart Sr.; and two brothers, Gordon M. and Lawrence Rock.

A private family graveside service will be held on Friday. Friends may sign the register book Wednesday through Friday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson. Memorial gifts, in lieu of flowers, may be made to Hospice House, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
