Joyce E. Taylor, 79, died Dec. 25, 2005, at Via Christ Regional Medical Center, St. Francis Campus ER, Wichita.
She was born April 20, 1926, in Plevna, the daughter of Ralph Edward and Grace Pearl Obleness Secrest. She graduated from Nickerson High School in 1944. She was a homemaker.
She belonged to Crossroads Christian Church and volunteered for Hospice of Reno County.
On Feb. 5, 1945, she married Gerald A. Taylor in Hutchinson. He died April 1, 1996.
Survivors include: a son, Gerald A., II., Valley Center, Calif.; three daughters, Diana L. Perkins, Kingman, and Linda J. Overman and Bonnie S. Teel, both of Wichita; two sisters, Virginia Boggs, Lyons, and Marge Secrest, Burrton; a sister-in-law, Viola Mount, Hutchinson; 13 grandchildren; and 30 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Ralph Secrest.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Elliott Chapel, Hutchinson, with Pastors Wayne A. Pittman and Todd Sinclair presiding. Visitation will be from noon to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Fairlawn Burial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Hospice of Reno County, in care of the funeral home.
