Juan Barrera-Cantu, 61, died April 20, 2020, at his daughter's home.  He was born January 12, 1959, in Matamoros, Mexico, to Manuel and Librada (Cantu) Barrera.

Juan worked as a mechanic.  He enjoyed working on cars and loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Juan is survived by: his children, Guadalupe (Sergio) Pineda of Hutchinson, Juan M. Barrera of Liberal, Juan A. Barrera, Jr. of Liberal, and Cecilia A. (Omar) Barrera of Liberal; nine grandchildren; brothers, Jose Manuel Barrera, Heriberto Barrera, and Jorge Elias Barrera; sisters, Cleotilde Lucas, Rosalinda Vidal, and Maricruz Guerrero; and the mother of his children, Rosemary Barrera.

He was preceded in death by:  his parents; brother, Enrique Barrera; and sister, Ludivina Barrera Cruz.

Private funeral service was Wednesday, April 22, 2020, at Elliott Mortuary, with Pastor Kendall Sheats officiating.  Burial will be at a later date in Brownsville, TX.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the American Diabetes Association, in care of Elliott Mortuary and Crematory, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
