Obituary

Juanita K. Hoffman, 86, died July 11, 2013, at Hospice House, Hutchinson. She was born April 2, 1927, in Eureka, Kan., the daughter of George W. and Stella F. (Harmon) Smith.

Juanita graduated from Douglas High School in 1945. She was a former member of St. Teresa's and a current member of Church of the Holy Cross. Her church involvement included the Altar Society, which she was a past president, the Harvest House, and she started the Perpetual Adoration Chapel at Holy Cross.

On Sept. 18, 1949, she married Andrew A. "Andy" Hoffman in Dalhart, Texas. He died May 20, 2008. Survivors include: three sons, Albert Hoffman and wife Royce of Waterford, Conn., Kenny Hoffman and wife Virginia of Wichita, and Jerry Hoffman and wife Melissa of Hutchinson; a sister, Joyce Blick and husband Tom of Hutchinson; a brother, Raymond Smith and wife Dorthea of Battle Mountain, Nev.; 13 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a daughter, Janice Hoffman; three brothers; and four sisters.

Rosary will be 7 p.m. Monday, July 15, 2013, at Elliott Chapel, Hutchinson. A parish rosary will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 16, 2013, with Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 10:30 a.m. at Church of the Holy Cross, Hutchinson, with Father Joseph Eckberg presiding. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday and Monday at Elliott Mortuary. Memorials may be made to Hospice House or Church of the Holy Cross, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
