September 1, 1923 – December 25, 2018
After celebrating her 95th birthday in early September, Julia Ehling, of Hutchinson, quietly passed away on Christmas Day, 2018. She was born September 1, 1923, in Abbyville, Kansas, to Nannie Knotts and Wiley Kittle.
'JK' (as she was fondly called by many), married Morris Ehling, June 30, 1942, in San Diego, California. They were married 61 years, prior to his passing on November 22, 2003.
Julia and Morris had four children: Brenda, Wayne, Dee and Neil. Julia's life centered around family and she was especially fond of family feasts in her home.
Preceding her in death were: her parents; son, Wayne; husband, Morris; and brothers, Frank, Emery, John, Wesley, Archie and Glenn.
Surviving family includes: daughters, Brenda Ehling Leslie (Bill), Hutchinson, Dee Ehling Dillon (Dave), Mission Hills, KS; and son, Neil Ehling (Marsha), Hutchinson; grandchildren, Tami Douglas Schatz (Mike), Arroyo Grande, CA, Ken Douglas (Sheri), Phoenix, AZ, Cyndi Tikunoff (John), Aspen, CO, Jeff Dillon (Tracy), Mission Hills, KS, Heather Dillon (Brad Poos), Kansas City, MO, Katy Dillon (Ryan Cook), Kansas City, MO, Andrew Ehling (Jodi), McPherson, KS, Zane Ehling (Jenni), Garden Plain, KS, Abby Ehling (Francisco Florencio), Lawrence, KS, Lucas Ehling, Hutchinson; and 18 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service for Julia will be 11 a.m. Saturday, January 19, 2019, at Elliott Mortuary Chapel. Julia was passionate about flowers and loved working in her yard. Because of that, the family requests in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the flower fund at Dillon Nature Center, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main St., Hutchinson, KS 67501.
The family would like to thank the dedicated caregivers who made it possible for Julia to remain in her home with their compassion, professionalism, and devotion to her comfort and wishes.
