Julia Ellen Jones, 100, died Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2013. She was born Aug. 4, 1913, in Jamestown, Kan., the daughter of Edwin Isaac "Jack" and Sarah Hinson Jones.
She attended District #25 school through the 8th grade, but was a lifelong learner, staying up to date with current affairs and political on goings, had memberships at South Hutchinson United Methodist Church and Trinity United Methodist Church, Concordia. She belonged to United Methodist Women and Senior Citizens of Concordia.
Ellen had worked away from Cloud County for 40 years, retiring as supervisor of food service at a Methodist retirement home, Topeka then moved back to Concordia in the fall of 1981 to work for the Concordia Senior Citizens for six and half years and had lived in
Hutchinson since 2007.
She is survived by a sister-in-law, Violet Jones of Concordia; nephews, Robert E. Jones (Karen) of Austin, Texas, William "Bill" Jones (Pam) of Coffeyville, Ronald Jones (Wendy) of Ft. Riley, Wesley Jones of Springfield, Ill.; nieces, Sarah Willard (and friend Tom Tucker), Dee Swafford (Kim) both of Hutchinson, Sharon Jones of Atlanta, Ga. and Mary Jones of Springfield, Ill. She was preceded in death by brothers, Robert (and Carol) Jones, Ralph Jones and a sister, Ruth Jones.
Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 7, 2013, at South Hutchinson United Methodist Church, with Pastor Warren Hett officiating. Burial will be 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 12, 2013, at Fairview Cemetery, Concordia followed by a Memorial Service at 2 p.m. at Trinity United Methodist Church, Concordia with Reverend Joseph Koechner and Tim Ault-Duell officiating.
