Julia Janette "Peggy" Phipps, 80, died Jan. 3, 2011, at Hospice House, Hutchinson. She was born Aug. 2, 1930, in Hutchinson, Ks, the daughter of Albert Harmon and Zetta Mae Cosat Frye. Peggy was a homemaker and a member of Walnut & Campbell Church of Christ.
On Sept. 2, 1950, she married Marvin Phipps in Southwest City, Missouri. He survives. Other survivors include: seven children, Pam Edwards and husband John, Bill Phipps and wife Rita, Mike Phipps and wife Denice, Doug Phipps and wife Susan, Bob Phipps, Randy Phipps and wife Linda, Sheri Phipps; stepdaughter, Charyl Saiz, all of Hutchinson; four sisters, Clara Ketchum, Maudie Brack, Ora Henry and Nellie Neuenschwander, all of Hutchinson; two brothers, Bill Frye, Nickerson and George Frye, Hutchinson; 22 grandchildren, many great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Burton Frye, and two sisters, Avis Anderson and Faye Gibson.
Funeral service will be 10 a.m., Friday, Jan. 7, 2011, at Elliott Mortuary Chapel with Jimie-Wray Mead presiding. Friends may call 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. today through Thursday, with family to receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday. Burial will be in Penwell-Gabel Cemetery and Mausoleum, Hutchinson.
