Julie Elaine Kanady, 56, of Hutchinson, died October 20, 2017, in Barton County. She was born January 21, 1961, in Newton, the youngest child of Homer and Julia Victoria (Walker) Redinger.
Julie graduated from Burrton High School in 1979, Bethel College in 1983, and the University of Texas Health Science Center in Dallas, Texas, in 1987, where she received her nurse practitioner training. Julie was an advanced level nurse practitioner, specializing in women's health.
Through Julie's work at Halstead Hospital, Reno and Harvey County Health Departments, and Heartland Regional Medical Center in Great Bend, Julie was a healer. She loved her patients and they overwhelmingly loved her. Anything in Life (big L) was her forte, be it people, animals, insects, trees, a river, oceans, mountains . . . all of Creation was sacred to her. She never chose a religious affiliation because Life and Love were her religion. Her spirit will be missed, but her joy and affection will live on in the hundreds and hundreds of people she touched. Her death was a shock and tragedy, but her life was a living testament to how one single life can create so much joy, healing, and hope.
On August 3, 1988, she married James F. 'Jim' Kanady in Steamboat Springs, Colorado. They shared 29 years of marriage.
Julie is survived by: husband, Jim; daughter, Julia, both of Hutchinson; siblings, Jim Redinger, John Redinger, both of Burrton, Jeff Redinger of Dallas, Texas, Jean Cutting of Moundridge, Janet Ropp of Burrton, Judy Dressler of Halstead, Jeri McPherson of Washington state, and Joan Redinger of Haysville.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
