Julie A. Salmans, 54, gathered in God's arms, Dec. 29, 2015, at Hospice House, Hutchinson. She was born June 22, 1961, in Wichita, to Raymond and Shirley (Butler) Pilkenton.

Julie graduated from Andale High School in 1979. She worked for several years at St. Francis Medical Center as an x-ray escort with Joy Salmans, mother of her future husband. On Aug. 5, 1983, she married Joseph R. Salmans in Newton. Julie enjoyed crocheting, crafting, and was an avid gardener. She loved animals and was a member of ASPCA. She was a sassy and vivacious woman who loved spending time with her family. Julie and 10 other family members enjoyed a cruise together last May, where she traveled to Alaska and went whale watching with her husband, Joe.

Julie is survived by: her husband of the home; daughters, Hannah Salmans of Pretty Prairie, Rebekah Salmans of Cheney; mother, Shirley Copeland of Cheney; father-in-law, Norman Salmans of Newton; brother-in-law, Jack Salmans and wife Wanda of Moundridge; and sister-in-law, Sharon Harrison and husband Kelby of Newton. She was preceded in death by: her father, Raymond; stepfather, Robert Copeland; sister, Diana Copeland; children, Tiffany, Faith, and Isaiah Salmans; stepson, Jason Salmans; and mother-in-law, Joy Salmans.

Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 4, 2016, at Elliott Chapel, Hutchinson, with Deacon Jack Salmans presiding. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday, with family to receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, at Elliott Mortuary. Memorials may be made to the Julie A.
