June Dae Gwaltney, 80, died July 20, 2006, at her home, Hutchinson.
She was born June 12, 1926, in Pierce, Colo., the daughter of Edwin Daniel and Helen Esther McCormick Lesh. She graduated in 1944 from Pierce, Colo., High School and attended Hutchinson Community College. A resident of Hutchinson since 1968, she was a homemaker and was a secretary at the Francis E. Warren Air Force Base, Cheyenne, Wyo.
She belonged to First Congregational Church, serving as a Deaconess, Order of Eastern Star, Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, Hutchinson Recreation Commission, Hutchinson Art Association and was a library mentor through Hutchinson Public Library.
On June 20, 1948, she married Dwight L. Gwaltney. He survives.
Other survivors include: two sons, Dwight L. "Rick" III, Dodge City, and Mark, Lawrence; a daughter, Julie Weigel, Manhattan; two brothers, Edwin D. Lesh Jr. Ault, Colo., and Lynn L. Lesh, Pierce, Colo.; two sisters, Helen Jane Moore, Wildomar, Calif., and Maxyne Barense, Santa Barbara, Calif.; 10 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the First Congregational Church, with Pastor Matt Stafford presiding. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson, with the family present from 2 to 3 p.m. Sunday. Burial will be in Fairlawn Burial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to First Congregational Church, or Hospice of Reno County, both in care of the funeral home.
