June Maxine Winslow, 99, reached her Heavenly Home on July 17, 2026, at her daughter’s home in Ellsworth, WI. She was born June 4, 1927, in Partridge, KS to Fernette Estelle Peterson and Earl Cassidy Warnock. June lived through the Great Depression and the Dust Bowl, graduating from Partridge Rural High School in 1945. She attended Hutchinson Junior College for one year, working part-time at Dillons Grocery Store. June played softball with the Hutchinson Women’s Softball team, where they won the state championship in 1947 and 1948.

She married Robert Wayne Winslow on August 15, 1948, at the Partridge Community Church, where the presiding minister was Dr. Frank G. Richard. Bob and June shared 73 years together before the death of Bob on December 14, 2021.

Bob and June lived in Wichita for two years before moving back to Hutchinson. In 1950, Bob was recalled to active duty during the Korean War and sent to Guam for two years. June drove to San Francisco, CA with Bobbie Lou and Wayne, where she boarded a Navy ship and spent 21 days traveling to join Bob. Wayne was seven months old when Bob saw him for the first time and Bobbie Lou was not quite two. They spent a year there, then returned to Hutchinson, where Don was born.

Bob returned to active duty in the United States Navy in 1960. During the next 18 years they enjoyed living in the San Francisco area, Hawaii, San Diego, Jacksonville, FL, the Philippines, and Washington D.C. Bob retired from the Navy in 1977 and they moved back to Hutchinson where they lived their remaining years.

June and Bob joined Park Place Christian Church in 1950, then became very active members after retiring. June was president of the Disciple Women’s Fellowship three times, a group leader for over 20 years, and chairman of the funeral dinners for 25 years. She also sang in the choir, taught Sunday School, and hosted the semi-annual church garage sale at her home for over 25 years, which raised thousands of dollars for mission work.

June was a former member of the Hutch Travel Club, the Hutch Garden Club, the Hutch Genealogical Society, and the Reno County Historical Society. She was also a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution for over 35 years.

June’s favorite hobbies were photography, genealogy, and travel. June and Bob visited 18 different countries as well as all 50 states. When traveling, they always managed to include visiting with friends and relatives along with “seeing the sights”. Often, it also included a bit of genealogy research. Every time Bob would see a cemetery, he would always ask June, “Do you want to stop here”? Bob and June gave travelogue programs to many churches, schools, and other organizations. June accumulated 60 photo albums, 33,000 slides, and 15 binders full of genealogy information on several sides of the family.

June dearly loved her Lord, family, and friends. She was a people person and loved to make people laugh. She loved to play board games and cards with her family and friends. June had a “bed and breakfast” at her home for 35 years during the Kansas State Fair and made many lasting friendships with her guests.

June is survived by: daughter, Roberta Wayne (Roger), Ellsworth, WI; sons, Wayne (Donna), Hutchinson and Donald (Tina), Normandy, TN; son-in-law, Richard Cordaro, Hutchinson; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; and three nephews and their families.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; a foster daughter, Lydia Cordaro; her sister, Luella Wainner and husband Jim; sister-in-law, Mary Ann Marx and her husband Gilbert; a grandson, great-grandson, and a great-great-grandson.

Celebration of Life Service for June will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, August 15, 2026, at Park Place Christian Church, 2600 N. Adams, Hutchinson. Private family inurnment will take place in the Partridge Cemetery on August 15, 2026, the 78th wedding anniversary of June and Bob. Friends may sign her book from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Elliott Mortuary.
