The family and friends' lives of free-spirited Kali Lynn Gilbert, 19, changed forever June 18, 2020.  She was born May 29, 2001, in Hutchinson, to Jimmy Gilbert and Nicole Mesa.

Kali attended South Hutchinson and Graber Grade Schools, and Hutchinson High School, where she was a cheerleader for two years.  From her early childhood, she loved music, dancing, and having a good time.  Kali was known for her big heart and loved all people and animals, including snakes and lizards.  She followed in her mother, Nicole's caregiving footsteps, working at Disability Supports, and most recently at TECH.

Kali is survived by:  her parents, Jimmy and Nicole; siblings, Ethan Gilbert, Jaydie Mesa, and Alexis Gilbert; grandmothers, Trudy Mesa and Dorothy Gilbert; grandfather, Greg Mesa; great-grandmother, Shirley Ahrens; godparents, Sheri and Keith Kienzle; aunts, uncles, cousins, and numerous friends.

She was preceded in death by her great-grandfather, Donnie Ahrens and great-grandmothers, Socorro Mesa and Martha Gilbert.

Cremation has taken place.  Kali's Celebration of Life will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 27, 2020, at New Covenant Presbyterian Church, 700 E. 25 ^th , Hutchinson, with Pastor Craig Waetke officiating. Friends may sign the book from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Wednesday through Friday at Elliott Mortuary.  The family will greet friends following the service at the church.

Memorials may be made to the Kali Gilbert Memorial Fund, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS  67501.

Kali left us all too soon, but was able to help others, as she was an organ donor.
