Obituary

Karen Ann (Knackstedt) Ehrlich was born May 10, 1947 in Hutchinson.  She was blessed to be adopted by Melvin and Roberta (Koons) Knackstedt.  Karen grew up outside of Little River on a farm where her love for animals would shine.  She was active in 4-H.  She would lose her mother Roberta but would eventually gain a stepmom, Ina (Manwarren) Knackstedt.

In 1966, Karen married C. David McLean.  They divorced in 1985 but this union resulted in 2 children, Kathy and Bryan McLean.  Her love for animals continued with her children as they were surrounded by dogs, cats and horses as well as her love for 4-H.

Family was very important to her.  She was mom to everyone whether it was sporting events, dog shows, horse shows or even neighborhood kids.

Karen held many jobs over the years, such as retail, nurse aid, waitress and sales rep for Tupperware and Amway.  She made many friends in the process.

On July 8, 1998, Karen gained the greatest role of Grandma to Kenzie Renee McLean.  In the process she gained her other daughter Wendy Parrish and grandson Keifer Parrish.  Karen eventually gained granddaughter Siera Parris and great grand-daughter Melanie Parrish.

On July 2, 2000, her son Bryan was killed in a car accident.

Karen's path frequently crossed that of Russell Ehrlich, her high school sweetheart. They  married  November 23, 2019.  The house was filled with love and laughter. Sadly, their time was short as he passed on August 5, 2021.

Karen is survived by her: daughters Kathy McLean and Wendy Parrish; granddaughters, Kenzie Mclean and Siera Parrish; grandson, Keifer Parrish; great granddaughter Melanie Parrish; her dog Rudy and 2 grand dogs Remington and Trigger along with several cats.

Cremation has taken place. There be a celebration of life will in 2026.

Memorials can be sent to the Little River Community Library or your nearest 4-H club in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main St, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
