Karen Kay Evans, 72, died June 2, 2013, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center. She was born Jan. 9, 1941, to Frank and Maxine Cross Holland, in Tulsa, Okla.

Karen graduated from Sterling High School and Wichita State University. She was a retired social worker for the Salvation Army.

She is survived by: her three sons, Jeff Zimmerman of Santa Cruz, Calif., Chris Evans of Burlington, Vt., Nick Evans of Hutchinson; companion, David Freeman of Hutchinson; brother, Tom Holland of Denver, Colo.; and nine grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a sister, Janet Yeakel.

Cremation has taken place. A family memorial gathering will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 8, 2013, at Grace Episcopal Church.
