Karen Rae McIntosh
Karen Rae McIntosh, 77, died March 13, 2013, at Wesley Medical Center, Wichita. She was born Feb. 23, 1936, in Hutchinson, to Victor Warren and Thelma Rita Baker Keckler.
She received her master's degree in 1972 from Wichita State University, Wichita. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, Hutchinson, a lifetime member of NEA, belonged to Sky Riders and was a Junior High Girl Scout Leader Cadet. She was a grade school teacher for over 40 years.
On Aug. 11, 1957, she married Elvin Eugene McIntosh in Peabody, Kan. He survives. Other survivors include: son, David McIntosh of Hutchinson; daughter, Sheri Ann Janzen and husband Marlin of Goessel; grandchildren, Ryan Janzen and wife Amanda of Emporia, Evan Janzen of Kansas City, Kan., Karis Janzen of Goessel, Allen McIntosh of Wash.; sister, Vicki Poe of Overland Park, Kan.; brothers, Robert Keckler of Newton, Steve Keckler of Denver, Colo. She was preceded in death by her parents, Victor Keckler and Thelma Keckler Verlin; stepfather, Nathan Verlin; brothers, Victor and Jere Keckler.
Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday, March 17, 2013, at Alexanderwohl Mennonite Church, 1304 K 15 Hwy., Goessel, Kan., with a graveside service at 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 19, 2013, in Penwell-Gabel Cemetery and Mausoleum, Hutchinson, with Pastor Linda Ewert presiding. Memorial contributions may be made to the Karen Rae McIntosh Scholarship Fund, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson KS 67501.
