Karen E. O'Dell's Obituary
Karen E. O'Dell, 69, died May 3, 2009, at Shawnee Mission Medical Center, Merriam.
She was born Feb. 18, 1940, in Hutchinson, to Jabe and Ethel McEwen Atkinson. A lifetime resident of Hutchinson, she was a retired sales clerk.
She belonged to the VFW Auxiliary.
On Aug. 14, 1969, she married Harold "Digger" O'Dell. Survivors include: two daughters, Shannon and Doug Folk, Shawnee, and Teri and Curtis Ballinger, Colorado Springs, Colo.; a brother, David Atkinson, Salina; a sister, Nadine Hairgrove, San Clemente, Calif.; and five grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Les Damon and Jib Atkinson, and three sisters Doris McIntyre, Wanda Sanders and Jackie Delaney.
Memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Elliott Chapel, Hutchinson. Friends may sign the register from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Thursday and Friday at the mortuary. The family will receive friends prior to the memorial service from 10 to 11 a.m. at the mortuary.
Memorials may be sent to the American Cancer Society in care of the mortuary.
