Katherine Kay 'Kathy' Benson, 77, of South Hutchinson, died January 5, 2019, at Hospice House, Hutchinson. She was born October 13, 1941, in Wichita, the daughter of Fredrick R. and Edna R. (McConnaughy) Baker.

Kathy graduated from East High School and, along with her husband Walter, owned Financial Credit Services in Sterling for 25 years. She also volunteered for Hospice of Reno County for over 25 years.

On January 28, 1973, Kathy married Walter E. Benson in Wichita. He died October 16, 2018. She is survived by: sons, Michael Benson, Hutchinson, Fritz Benson (Becky), Colwich; grandchildren, Grant and Emery; adopted daughter, Gina Young, and her children, Emma and Levi; sister, Joyce Proctor, Carefree, AZ; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Kathy was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Donald and Bobby Baker.

Cremation has taken place and a private family service will be held at a later date.
