Katherine Black, 91, died December 22, 2014, at Thorne Care Center. She was born December 6, 1923, in Hutchinson, to James and Esther (Howard) Southworth.
She married Kenneth G. Black on August 5, 1940, in Hutchinson, KS. He died November 1, 2008. Katherine was an avid bowler, playing on many leagues and in tournaments.
Survivors include: her daughters, Evelyn Wilhite (Bob), Burrton, Vickie Lightner (Dean), Judy Saunders, Norma Gardner (Jack), all of Hutchinson, Birdella McKenna, Aurora, Colo., and Kassie Simonton (Kyle), Peyton, Colo.; 19 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Helen Pickerill, Hutchinson; and a brother, Jim Southworth, Hutchinson.
She was preceded in death by her husband, grandson, granddaughter, great-granddaughter, great-great-grandson, two sisters, and a brother.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, December 30, 2014, at Elliott Chapel, Hutchinson, with Pastor Marlo Oltman presiding. Burial will be in Fairlawn Burial Park, Hutchinson. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday and Monday, at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson.
