Katherine G. "Kay" Mayes, 85, died June 19, 2011, at her home in Hutchinson.

She was born April 28, 1926, in Hutchinson, the daughter of Jeff and Ethel Thomas Lawrence.

Kay was a mother and a homemaker.
On Oct. 6, 1943, she married John L. Mayes in Hutchinson. He died March 20, 1983.

Survivors include: two daughters, Linda Henderson and husband Jim and Nancy Wilson and husband Will, all of Hutchinson; two sons, John L. Mayes, Jr., Hutchinson, and Robert D. Mayes and wife Mary, Hesston; 12 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a daughter, Judy Stover; and a sister, Dorothy Roberts.

Graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 22, 2011, in Fairlawn Burial Park, Hutchinson. Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson.
