DIGHTON - Kathy Evans McLeish, 53, died Sept. 8, 2008, at Promise Regional Medical Center, Hutchinson.

She was born July 2, 1955, in Hutchinson, the daughter of Milton W. and Mardell J. Delaney Evans. She graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1973, and from Kansas State University in 1977. She was a teacher for Dighton Public Schools USD No. 482.

She belonged to the First United Methodist Church, Dighton, and the Kansas State University Alumni Association.

Survivors include: two daughters, Amanda McLeish, Prairie Village, and Lindy McLeish, Manhattan; her parents, Milton and Mardell Evans, Hutchinson; a sister, Judy Frank and husband Randy, Lawrence; a sister-in-law, Susan Evans, Hutchinson; a niece; four nephews; and a great-nephew.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Christopher H. Evans.

Memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 11, 2008, at Dighton High School Gymnasium, Dighton, with the Rev. Greg Savage presiding. Friends may sign the register from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson. The family will receive friends following the memorial service at Dighton High School.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Stand Up To Cancer (reference Kats for Kathy), or the Kathy McLeish Dighton Public Schools Memorial Fund, in care of the mortuary.
