Katie Mae Depew, 66, slipped peacefully from the loving arms of her family into the loving arms of her Savior June 30, 2009, at her home, Hutchinson.
She was born Feb. 17, 1943, in rural Hutchinson, to John and Fannie Bontrager Helmuth.
A member of the South Hutchinson Mennonite Church, she was a co-owner of Bill's Sewing Sales & Service. On August 26, 1961, she married Bill Depew in Hutchinson. He survives.
Other survivors include: three sons, Harlen and wife Peri, Hutchinson, Bob and wife Polly, Atmore, Ala., Dave and wife Brenda, Buhler; son-in-law, Richard Sallee, Houston, Texas; two brothers, Eli Helmuth, Hutchinson, and Merlyn Helmuth, Littleton, Colo.; three sisters, Clara Miller, Partridge, Mary Mast, Hutchinson, and Barbara Eller, Jacksonville, Fla.; grandchildren, Stacy, John and Fiance Kelsi, Jason, Chad, Cassie, Kevin, Jessica, Trevor and Allie Depew; Brian, Valerie and Natalie Sallee; numerous nieces, nephews, spiritual and extended family.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Faye Sallee, on May 4, 2008, her parents, and four brothers, Elvon, Henry, Monroe and John Helmuth.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Friday, July 3, 2009, at South Hutchinson Mennonite Church, with Pastors Howard Wagler and Eric Miller officiating. Burial will be in Maranatha Mennonite Church Cemetery. Friends may call today 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson. The family will receive friends today from 6 to 8 pm at South Hutchinson Mennonite Church.
