Kay Marie Keating, 74, died Aug. 16, 2015, at her home. She was born Dec. 29, 1940, in Topeka, to John Joseph and Marie Irene (Dennis) Minihan, and raised in Belleville.
Kay graduated from Belleville High School in 1958 and went on to Salt City Business College. She was a mother and homemaker. She also was a secretary for Borton Inc. and Reno County Public Works, retiring in 2006. She loved to quilt and was part of the Quilting Bee and was a parish member of St. Teresa's Catholic Church.
On Jan. 9, 1971, she married Joseph Leo Keating in Emporia. He survives. Other survivors include: children, Terri Shurtleff of Wichita, Doug Spitler of McPherson, Rick Spitler and wife Amy of Hutchinson, Joey Keating and wife Sarah of Russellville, Ark.; grandchildren, Kristie, Ryan, Lexie, Katie, Courtney, Abby and Emily; great-grandchild, Connor; brother, John Joseph Minihan Jr. and wife Dotty of Las Vegas, Nev.; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Parish rosary will be at 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 20, 2015, and funeral Mass 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 21, 2015, at St. Teresa's Catholic Church, Hutchinson, with Father Michael Maybrier presiding. Burial will follow in Fairlawn Burial Park, Hutchinson. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday and from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson.
