Kenneth L. "Kenny" Burton, 84, died Oct. 6, 2008, at the Good Samaritan Center, Hutchinson.
He was born Feb. 21, 1924, in Rolla, the son of Charlie and Jeanny "Dot" Burton. He graduated from Rolla High School and Adela Hale Business College. He worked for Consolidated Manufacturing and retired from Hutchinson Vending Company in 1986, with 20 years of service.
He belonged to the First Congregational Church, V.F.W. Bob Campbell Post No. 1361, American Legion Lysle Rishel Post No. 68, and the Loyal Order of the Moose No. 982. He served in the U.S. Army Air Force during World War II as a Top Turret Gunner in the European Theater.
On May 31, 1947, he married Claudia Nadine Sitton in Hutchinson. She survives. Other survivors include: daughters and their spouses, Connie and Roger Dickinson, Hutchinson, and Renee and Jim King, Iola; and two granddaughters, Christy Swann, Wichita, and Loria and Roger Smith and their children, Gavin and Luka Bella Smith, Newton.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Lyle and Archie Burton, and a sister, Mickie.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday Oct. 10, 2008, at Elliott Chapel, Hutchinson, with Pastor Matt Stafford presiding. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson, with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. Burial will be in Penwell-Gabel Cemetery and Mausoleum, Hutchinson, with military graveside rites conducted by the Fort Riley Honor Guard.
Memorials may be sent to the church or the V.F.W. Bob Campbell Post No. 1361, or Hospice Care of Kansas, all in care of the mortuary.
