Obituary

Kenneth D. "Ken" Koop, 64, of Hutchinson, died March 6, 2011, at his residence. He was born Oct. 29, 1946, in Hutchinson, the son of Herman H. and Frances L. Gould Koop.
He was a 1963 graduate of Haven High School and was a U.S. Navy veteran, having served during the Vietnam War. He later graduated from Hutchinson Community College. He was a member of the Eastwood Church of Christ and a lifetime member of American Legion Lysle Rishel Post #68 of Hutchinson.

He married Barbara McGill on April 29, 1971, in Las Vegas. They were later divorced. Survivors include: three daughters, Tammy Rivera of Hutchinson, Misty D. Koop-MacKay of Wichita, and Kristy Ward of Oskaloosa; his mother, Frances Koop of Hutchinson; his brother, Robert "Bob" Koop of Kirbyville, Mo.; and six grandchildren, Vincent and Victoria Rivera, Spencer and Paige MacKay, and Faith and Marquis Ward. He was preceded in death by his father.

Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Friday, March 11, 2011, at the Elliott Mortuary with Jimi-Wray Mead and Perry Nolan presiding. Burial will be in Penwell-Gabel Cemetery and Mausoleum, Hutchinson. Graveside military honors will be provided by the U.S. Navy Honor Guard. Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. both Wednesday and Thursday, with the family greeting friends Thursday 7 to 8 p.m. at Elliott Mortuary.
