OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. - Kenneth Keith "Ken" Keener, former resident of Hutchinson, passed away on June 3, 2013, in Oklahoma City, Okla., at the age of 88.
Kenneth was born March 8, 1925, in Hutchinson, and was a 1943 graduate of Hutchinson High School.
On Aug. 29, 1947, he married Frances May Little in Hutchinson. She survives.
Kenneth was born and raised in Hutchinson, and he was a 32nd degree Mason and belonged to the Hutchinson-Reno Masonic Lodge # 124 A.F. & A.M. for almost 55 years. He was part of the Hutchinson National Guard until re-enlisting in the Army and served two tours of duty in Viet Nam. He loved life in the military and enjoyed traveling. His military and civil service careers led him to the Boston, Mass., area, Arizona, Germany, and Israel before retiring in Sierra Vista, Ariz.
He is survived by: his wife, Frances Little Keener of OKC; daughter, Debbi Bryant and husband Dr. Charles Bryant of OKC; son, Ken Keener Jr. and wife Ana Clark Keener of Sierra Vista, Ariz.; grandson, Zachary Keener of Sierra Vista, Ariz. He was preceded in death by his mother; sister, Vinnita M. Gilliland; and two brothers.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, June 8, 2013, at Elliott Mortuary Chapel, Hutchinson, with Pastor Matt Stafford presiding. Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at Elliott Mortuary, with the family present. Burial will follow in Penwell-Gabel Cemetery and Mausoleum, Hutchinson, with military honors conducted by Ft. Riley Honor Guard.
