Kenneth Duane 'Kenny' Schmidt, 61, of Hutchinson, died April 18, 2018, at his home in Hutchinson. He was born October 25, 1956, in Newton, the son of Alfred R. and Mary M. (Fast) Schmidt.

Kenny graduated from Buhler High School in 1974 and worked as a mechanic in various area shops and his own shop. He also enjoyed driving race cars and in antique tractor pulls.

On October 15, 1998, Kenny married Cynthia M. Kallaus in Hutchinson. She survives. Other survivors include: daughters, Jessica Vaile (Cory) of Hutchinson and Misty Xicum Ku (Leo) of San Francisco, CA; stepson, Ryan Penner (Chelsea) of Hutchinson; grandchildren, Christian, Connor, Kai, Hazel, Aiden, Caleb; and mother, Mary Schmidt of Buhler. He was preceded in death by his father.

According to Kenny's wishes, cremation has taken place. A Memorial Gathering will be held from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Monday, April 23, 2018, at Elliott Mortuary. Friends may sign the book from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday through Monday at Elliott Mortuary.
