Kenneth Wade Wood, 78, died Saturday, Jan. 9, 2016, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center. He was born March 9, 1937, in Lubbock, Texas, the son of Juel and Margaret (Good) Wood.
He was the retired owner of JD's Auto Salvage for over 40 years. Kenny had been a PRCA card holder, excelling in calf and team roping as a professional cowboy.
On March 18, 1989, he married Josephine Alene (Pierce) Richey in Lindsborg. She survives. Other survivors include: Fay Ann Binder (Dan) of Inman, Barry (Tracy) of Inman, Jimmy (Janice) of Hutchinson, Debbie England (Dennis) of Inman, Diane Potter (Ryan) of Hutchinson, Debra Morris (Kelly) of Hoisington, Carrie Michelle Marlett (Joe) of Leon, Kimberly Swanner of Inman, Kyle Chapin (Dyan) of Sterling, Kevin Chapin (Pam) of Salina, Brandie Callison (Deuane) of Andover; 23 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by: his parents; a daughter, Teresa Brown; and a sister, Betty and her husband Roger Rankin.
Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 13, 2016, at CrossPoint Church, 1410 East 30th Avenue, Hutchinson, with the Reverend Dennis L. Ureche presiding. Burial will be in Fairlawn Burial Park, Hutchinson. Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. with family present from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson.
