Obituary

Kenneth E. Woodson died April 18, 2006, at his home, Hutchinson.

He was born Jan. 3, 1927, in Hutchinson, the son of James Andrew and Thelma Plummer Woodson Sr. He graduated from Hutch-inson High School and attended Hutchinson Community College. A lifetime resident of Hutchinson, he retired in 1989, as supervisor from Eaton.

He belonged to Bethel AME Church and the NAACP. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps.

He married Michelle Renee Ann Sanchez. She survives.

Other survivors include: six sons, Dene and Gene Morris, both of Hutchinson, Kenneth Jr., Houston, Jeffrey, Atlanta, Tyronne, Germany, and Alan, of the home; three daughters, Yon Woodson Renner, Town of Mount Hope, N.Y., Sherri Woodson, Washington, D.C., and Andrea Woodson Ali, Accokeek, Md.; three brothers, Leland and Jeffrey, both of Hutchinson, and Gerald, Wichita, five sisters, Anna Marie Walker, Joyce Hallums, Galena Crable, Geraldine Triplett and Theda Sorenson, all of Hutchinson; 16 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; and a godson, Marcelino Castaneda, Hutchinson.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Loyal and James Jr.; and four infant sisters.

Rosary will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Elliott Chapel, Hutchinson. Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Leonard Grey and Father Ned J. Blick presiding. Cremation will follow the services. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday, Sunday and Monday at the funeral home. Military honors will be conducted by the Fort Riley Honor Guard.

Memorials may be sent to the Alan Woodson Education Fund, or the American Lung Association, both in care of the funeral home.
