Kent W. Atkinson, 71, of Hutchinson, died June 8, 2026, surrounded by his family, at Hospice House, Hutchinson. He was born September 22, 1954, in Caldwell, Kansas, to Marion and Florence Atkinson.

In January of 1992, Kent married Karen in Oklahoma. They shared 34 years of marriage before his death.

Kent worked as a machinist for most of his life. He worked at Cessna, Arrow Machine, Mega Manufacturing, and Martin Machine.

Kent enjoyed woodworking and photography in his free time. He dedicated endless hours to his vegetable garden, which was beautifully brightened by his specifically planted marigolds.

Kent is survived by: beloved wife, Karen Atkinson of the home; daughters, Sabrina (David) DiDomenico, Jill Hedges, and Mandi Atkinson; brothers, Terry Atkinson and Burton (Karen) Atkinson; 11 adored grandchildren and four cherished great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Dean and Jim Atkinson.

In accordance with Kent’s wishes, no formal services are being held at this time.

Cremation has taken place.
