Kristina Jolene "Kris" Hewitt, 54, died Dec. 13, 2016, in Newton. She was born Aug. 7, 1962, in Salina, to Donnie and Mary (Jones) Knox.

Kris attended Salina Central High School and graduated from Hutchinson Community College with a degree in medical coding. She worked for Collins Ambulance, Wheeled Coach, and Siemens Wind Power. Kris was of the Methodist faith.

Kris married Robert A. "Bob" Hewitt Oct. 15, 1999, in Miami, Oklahoma. He died April 14, 2010. She is survived by: daughter, Kendra Smith of Hutchinson; grandson, Gauge Johnson; nine brothers; four sisters; and four stepchildren. Kris was preceded in death by her parents and son, Kyle Smith.

Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 17, 2016, at Elliott Mortuary Chapel, Hutchinson, with Pastor Eric Miller officiating. Burial will follow in Arlington Cemetery, Arlington. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. with the family present to receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Elliott Mortuary.
