Lahonda J. Buie's Obituary
LaHonda Jean Buie, 65, died May 20, 2006, at her home, Hutchinson.
She was born June 15, 1940, in Douglas, the daughter of Floyd Clark and Stella Irene Rob-erts. She graduated from Derby High School in 1958, and then graduated from Brown Mackie College. A longtime resident of Hutchinson, she was the owner of Buie's Bargain Center.
She was baptized in Church of Christ, Dodge City.
On May 5, 1990, she married Gene Austin Buie in Hutchinson. He survives.
Other survivors include: a son, Benjamin A. Thomas, Blue Springs, Mo.; stepchildren, Charles L. Davis, DeSoto, Gene A. Buie Jr., Garnett, Darcy J. Davis, DeSoto, and Tammy J. Davis, Lawrence; a brother, John Butler, Eureka Springs, Ark.; two sisters, Sammy Kiser, Salina, and Benita Freeman, Norfolk, Va.; and 13 grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Phillip W. Thomas.
Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Elliott Chapel, Hutchinson, with Chaplain Art Maddock presiding. Visitation will be from noon to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. Burial will be in Fairlawn Burial Park.
Memorials may be sent to the American Cancer Society or to Hospice Care of Kansas, both in care of the funeral home.
